
Amnesty International × Agency-R — "Never Out of Season"
To mark the release of new statistical data revealing a year-on-year rise in domestic assaults — disproportionately affecting women and children — Amnesty International partnered with Agency-R to give victims a voice that could not be ignored or conveniently set aside.
The campaign was anchored in fine art and editorial photography, deliberately styled to mirror the visual language of fashion publishing and high-street retail advertising. Placed strategically within the fashion sections of Sunday newspaper supplements, on high-street billboards and in lifestyle magazines, the work was designed to disarm readers through familiarity before confronting them with something far less comfortable.
The images carried a deliberate visual tension: rusted choker chains stood in for jewellery; tight, clinical crops replaced the aspirational gaze of conventional fashion. A single tagline, "Never out of season," unified the campaign, operating on two levels simultaneously. It implied that violence and the violation of human rights remain perennial, never falling from relevance; and it underscored Amnesty International's own relentless commitment — present not in moments of public sympathy, but year in, year out, regardless of the cultural mood.
